First quarter of the 13th century. Fourth Crusade period which took place primarily in Byzantium, fought largely by French Crusaders. 7 1/4" length, wedge section blade and integral tapered tang with two (of 3) original pins to secure the bone grips, now perished. The butt pierced with hole for a thong to prevent loss if unhanded while fighting. Stable excavated condition. Plexiglas display mount and certificate of authenticity.
