Constable's Tipstaff


Period. 9 1/4" length, turned wood with cylindrical grip and head. Used as a badge of authority by constables and officers of the court, these were generally embellished with the arms of the district they represented or royal arms. This example is as would be purchased before embellishment and evidently never used.
