19th century, from the Baptist Missionary Society Collection. 24 1/4” length, forged iron with leaf shaped point with rounded medial ridge. Butted seam conical socket with the wood haft, hacked and broken, within. Stable brown patina over forged finish. As found when collected in the late 19th century and the haft cut to facilitate shipping. Among the “curiosities” which were circulated in England on Mission Sunday to raise money for the missions.
