Ex Baptist Missionary Society Collection. Finely forged iron, 20 1/8” length with tapered socket which continues on the leaf-shaped point as a strong medial ridge on each side. Chevron decoration at the transition. The point with smooth forged finish. The socket with surface rust. At the time hafts were often discarded to facilitate shipping. The collection was circulated in England on “Mission Sunday” to demonstrate the barbaric culture which the missionaries were trying to reform and raise funds for the mission.
