CONFEDERATE GRAPE SHOT FROM THE BATTLE OF ATLANTA

$80.00
July 22, 1864. Cast iron, just under 1” in diameter, evidence of the desperation of the South’s struggle at that time. Made by the lost wax casting method, without the benefit of a pattern which would have induced additional steps in the casting process. The wax was hastily hand-formed and burned out by the molten iron leaving an exact reproduction in iron, showing the irregularities of hand shaping. Surface rusted.
