COLONIAL AMERICAN RIFLEMAN’S POUCH KNIFE C.1750-80

$435.00
American Riflemen carried shooting accessories and personal items in a shoulder bag roughly based on European game bags which also accommodated small animal kills. This hand made knife was specifically intended for the shoulder bag as indicated by its very rare original “tin” sheath. 10 3/8” length with 6 3/8” curved blade, possibly forged from a file. Wood grip with a brass base ferrule decorated with two incised lines. The iron sheath has a soldered lapped seam and folded throat and likely was tinned originally. Untouched as found condition with rich patina to the hilt. Curved double edged blades are extremely rare.
