CIVIL WAR SOLDIER’S POCKET KNIFE - WAS $110.00

$80.00 $110.00

Found in Charleston and surely Confederate. Large example, 4 ½” closed with acutely broadened clipped point as carried by seamen in lieu of breaking the points off conventional knives. Blunting in this way allowed the knives to cut but be ineffective for stabbing and thus, much less useful for fighting. Excavated. Bought about 1980 at Schindler’s Antiques, King St. Charleston.
