Model 1840, Peterson, The American Sword, #10. Brass hilt with double shell guards and simulated wire wrapped grip. 31 ¾” straight broad fullered blade. The forte with particularly well struck maker’s name EMERSON & SILVER TRENTON NJ. Reverse with U S DFM 1863. Blade with smooth gray patina. No nicks. Well marked and well preserved example of this important Civil War pattern.
