Just over 3/8” (0.37”) outside diameter, with riveted closure. It is thought that mail armor originated with the Celts. Links of this small size were used to produce a dense covering for the torso with larger links forming the lower part of the shirt or hauberk. Single link with remnants of the adjacent links attached.
