CARIBBEAN PIRATE'S/SAILOR'S FOLDING KNIFE

$145.00
17th-18th century, of distinct Spanish form. 3 7/8" length with wedge section elegantly clipped point blade. The base with pivot pin hole and suspension loop. The blade of thin section and specifically made for sighting as a work blade would be thicker and show sharpening. Purchased from a Fort Myers Florida dive and salvage shop in the 1980s. Excellent excavated condition. Dating to the period of rampant piracy. As sailors on naval ships and merchantmen were prohibited from carrying pointed knives this example likely was carried by a pirate.
