Late 19th-early 20th century by The Pettibone Bros Mfg Co and so marked on the ricasso. 30 1/2" d.e. blade decorated 2/3 its length in Crusades scene, cross, and crown, foliage, and arms with vacant panel for the owner's name, never filled in. Heavily silver plated finely chased and pierced hilt with simulated stone (agate?) grip set with a silver cross. Plated scabbard with exceptional quality heavily silvered and enameled mounts. Pettibone Brothers are known from the 1850s on. The quality of workmanship and use of a celluloid grip both distinguish it and date it to the 1180-1900 period.
