Heavy iron skull finely formed capturing the complex compound curves of the original. Crowned R maker’s mark. Weight, 6 pounds 7.2 ounces. Fine patina. See Metropolitan Museum of Art #49.163.2 on the web for an example of this form dated 1475.  Nine bar face guard, possibly added later. Helmets of this form were developed in Northern Italy and used by infantry. Surviving examples are very rare.  Display stand included.
