Size 5, bronze with oval bezel impressed with eight pips in a matrix. The arrangement appears to be random but undoubtedly had significance to the maker. A specific astronomical convergence with a supernatural (pagan) interpretation is most likely. A secondary interpretation is that it invokes Woden who had a horse with eight legs. See Ancient Rings, T N Pollo, p.42, bottom left for a similar related example. Â Anglo Saxons believed in charms including jewelry, as this ring, Â which would protect and bring good fortune.
