ANCIENT VIKING HEART RING C.900-1050 AD, SIZE 9 1/2

$375.00
Heavy rounded face band, 4.0mm. Early naturalistic (uncusped) form heart bezel, slightly domed. The surface is delicately hand-engraved with addorsed scrolls, a favorite Viking form. Above, a chevron forming the cusp. The cusped top form was used toward the end of the Viking era and the rounded top earlier, with regional exceptions. This ring combines both forms. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
