These small globular pendants were popular among common women in ancient Rome. Some have been described as prostitute’s pendants and that view is widely published on the internet. This example is 11.4mm, just under 1/2” diameter of compressed spherical form with the 1/2 skillfully modeled in in stepped layers of radial punches. It has been professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. It is suspended on a gilt Sterling silver neck chain for modern wear and is jewelry gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
