Roman/Byzantine size 4 3/4 with 1.6mm band flaring to the stepped shoulders. Rounded oval bezel chiseled with an image of a squinting eye in profile. Intended to protect the wearer against those empowered to do harm by their evil glance, a common theme in Roman pagan mythology. This dual representation is very rare and an interesting insight into Roman pagan mythology. Gilt bronze, well detailed. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.  Rare wearable size.
