New England cottage industry production. Generally conforming to the competition but with distinct individual details. 11 3/4" length. The blade very slightly curved and a little thicker than usual. Oak (?) grip scales of rounded section secured by iron pins or rivets, each with a central punch mark to expand the end and lock the grip. C.1870s. Typical product of a one or two man shop, probably operated part time after farming chores were done.
