Brass hilt with double shell guard and large ring guards characteristic of the early evolution of the form. Distinguished by its heavy gold overlay which is significantly intact. Silver wire wrapped grip. 27 3/8‰۝ hollow face triangular blade with large brass inlay to the forte (intact). See Swords and Blades of the American Revolution, Neumann, #203.S for a near identical example. These served in Colonial America during the French and Indian Wars and on through the Revolution.
