AMERICAN ARTILLERY OFFICER’S SWORD

C.1821-40, conforming to the 1821 regulations with 29 ½” straight broad fullered blade decorated with foliage and arms splay. The ground with remnants of blue and gold decoration substantially intact. The base with WHH US, presumably the owner’s initials and possibly identifiable. King’s head maker’s mark. Foliage decorated D form brass guard. Brass pommel with the figure of tongs gripping a cannon ball. Rare variation. See Peterson #107 for another conforming to the regulation with similarities.
