The face with large ringed eyes, a broad nose with pierced nostrils, and a broad horizontal mouth. Lower lip and left ear chipped at the time of its burial. Light surface encrustation. William Fagg was the foremost authority and author on Yoruba culture and consultant to Christie's (London) Tribal Art department, through which this figure was purchased.
