19TH-EARLY 20TH CENTURY KNIGHTS TEMPLAR SWORD

$525.00

The 28” blade marked The M C LILLEY & CO COLUMBUS O. That form of address used 1882-1925 only. It is decorated with crusades scene, foliage, arms, a crusader, and the owner’s name, all on gold ground mostly intact. The silvered hilt is modeled in high relief with red enamel cross inset to the ebony grip. Plated scabbard with silvered and enamel mounts. The middle of the scabbard etched with a different name probably indicating reuse of the sword by a descendant of the original owner. The plating completely intact. Impressive example.
