18TH CENTURY COLONIAL AMERICAN CHILD’S STIRRUP

$90.00

Forged iron, 3 5/8” height. Arched frame with strap slot and rectangular foot rest pierced with a “dog bone”. See Collector’s Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution, Nuemann, P.157 for similar full size examples. Very rarely encountered as the cost of maintaining a pony for a child would have been prohibitive to all but the wealthiest of colonists.  Uniform oxidation texture overall.

Item ID: C5156 (smaller)
