VIKING WOMAN WARRIOR’S FUNERARY PENDANT NECKLACE, 800-1050 AD

$370.00

800-1050 AD. Breaking metal had supernatural significance for Vikings. Breaking ringjarn (iron rings) as shown on the Larbro Stone, was thought to destroy the spirits of enemies. Similarly, Viking weapons and accouterments were broken for burial with their owners. This is the broken end of a fine Viking woman warrior's bronze bracelet. It is about 5/8” square with raised borders and medial. The end is cusped with a central nub. It was handcrafted by a Viking artisan 1000 years ago! The surface is textured from burial.  It has been professionally refurbished with a 24karat gold overlay and mounted to an 18” gilt Sterling silver neck chain for modern wear. It comes with certification of authenticity, and gift boxed.
