FINE VIKING TANGED ARROWHEAD, 850-1000 AD

$230.00

Well forged, over 3 1/2” length of battle weight where the adversaries were prepared in leather and quilted protective garments. Rounded triangular form point with low ridged faces. Spread foot base to seat in the shaft and tapered tang.  People living on the Mediterranean coasts developed warning systems including remote outposts and boats for spotting Viking raider’s ships. Thus warned, the intended victims could prepare their weapons and barricades and don the leather and textile armor of the period. This is a particularly finely forged and preserved example of a Viking arrowhead made to perform under those circumstances.
