RARE JAPANESE SEIGE ARROW

$265.00
Edo Period, late 18th century. 33 7/8‰۝ length with darkened cane shaft and horn nock. Dar brown duck fletching of the form shown on instruction manuals of the period, secured with papered brown silk thread. Iron point of elongated willow leaf form, crisp and with light minor superficial oxidation. Age-darkened throughout, the fletching sound with the cardinal spine a little tattered. Rare example of an arrow made for firing from a castle or fort under siege. It is shorter that most with a considerably heavier point, both features designed to decrease its ability to be fired back by the sieging force.
