Finest quality, made for a person of wealth and position, probably a daimyou. 4 7/8" diameter. The bowl of deep recurved section and the lid matching in shallower proportion. Orange body color to the interior and exterior. The lid beautifully decorated with turbulent sea in large gold swirls and dancing frothy silver wave crests accented with gold mist. Four gold birds above. Finely executed in contrasting shades of gold and silver, now darkened. Excellent preservation with vibrant colors. We have a set of five, the decoration matching stroke for stroke with slight variance of hand work as expected. Each.
