REVOLUTIONARY WAR BUCK & BALL SHOT

$50.00

Battle of King’s Mountain, Oct. 7, 1780. Pair of American buck shot, 0.48” diameter, recovered from the battlefield in the 1930’s and purchased at Schindler’s Antiques, Charleston in the 1980’s. The American long rifles often used a mixed load consisting of the primary ball ahead of which and still within the patch, were a few smaller buckshot which, in close quarters, could produce multiple casualties. That use is well documented but surviving buckshot are quite rare. This pair is among the few that we have encountered. Accompanied by certification of authenticity to Schindler’s Antiques, Charleston. Pair
