PRE-CONTACT SOLOMON ISLANDS LIME SPATULA

14 5/8" length. Made from black palm heart wood. Tapered with spatulate blade and finely carved grip of tapered form with a high medial wrapping around the end and pierced for a suspension loop. Shows use with minor surface wear and slight edge chips, all with fine precontact scraped finishing. Used to prepare and apply burnt lime which was used extensively to decorate bodies and implements including weapons.
