18th century, Tunisia. See Stone fig.755 #10 for an identical pair. Bronze, 5 3/4” height. Swept form diamond section sidebars, each with integral spur (iron rowels lacking). Scalloped footpad and double suspension bars. Decorated overall in a concentric circle pattern. Dark patina. Tunisians were slavers preying on the white populations of Mediterranean seaside villages and selling the slaves, mostly Greek and Italian to Arabs.
