JAPANESE POWDER FLASK FOR TANEGASHIMA MATCHLOCK, 17TH-18TH CENTURY

$355.00

Rare variation. Just over 5 7/8” (5.91”) total length. The basket weave body in two stages, so intricately done as to defy human capability. Horn top with integral tubular charger made of antler, resulting in a perfect cylinder, 0.48” diameter with wall thickness of just 3/100”. Perfectly crafted and perfectly preserved. The lower portion of the flask with small damage, a little distorted and congealed one side. Considering its fragility and age, survival in this condition is remarkable.
