Stone, shaped to a squat bun form with central hole for the spindle. Used to hand spin coarse thread, most likely wool. A fundamental in the Dark Ages when cultures reverted to rustic living. The franks were a Germanic tribe who invaded and occupied the Western Roman Empire northern France, Belgium, and western Germany (northern France, Belgium, and western Germany) after the fall. Chipped in its working life and surface encrusted from burial.
