Last quarter of the 18 century in the then popular fashion but just slightly over 1 1/4" length! Black lacquered papier mache with pewter inlay to the lid I the form of a symmetrical floral splay with hound's tooth pewter borders. Piano hinged. Excellent for the period with a little original snuff remaining. Smallest of these that we've seen.
