Nigeria, probably Yoruba. 18‰۝ height with one piece waisted carved wood body. Skin heads to each end, connected by a series of tensioners. Held under one arm, and beat with the other hand. The tone of the heads is changed according to the pressure on the tensioners. For that reason, known to many as a talking drum. From Phillips Auction House, London, 11 Dec. 1990 with original tag.
