A GERMAN MUSKETEER’S POWDER FLASK, C.1600

$1,650.00

7” total height. This example is representative of the ordnance stored in some German town arsenals for centuries, most of which was destroyed during the Second World War. It is wood, skillfully turned and hollowed with the back side sealed with a wood cover. The front is decorated with concentric grooves and bands. The top is mounted with a conical spout with sprung cover and cutoff which allow for precise measurement of the charge. Aside from minor abrasions, it retains all its original blackened (japanned) finish to the wood and metal.
