Smaller side knife size with 9” spatulate double fullered blade, evidently made from an early European broadsword. The blade showing tool or stone finish overall. Particularly well made hide-covered scabbard with medial ridge and small tip mount. Original hide shoulder strap with beaded surround to the tip mount. The grip in natural hide, suggesting an earlier example provided with the iconic red scabbard upon initiation into the Mau Mau. The Mau Mau attack was a savage hacking frenzy that left the victims, both human and livestock, severely maimed and usually dead. This version of the earlier, longer form is ideally suited for that attack.
