Edo Period, before 1868. Iron, 18 3/4” length with tapered curved diamond section blade with hooked base. Integral tang with mounting hole. Crisp with superficial staining only. While universally described as helmet breakers, these evidently were used in the left hand to catch and parry an opponent’s blade.
