This is a dagger size example of the iconic huaswehr (house guard sword) popular among rural dwellers. They were generally prohibited from owning weapons, but the short sword, kept inside the houses was necessary and tolerated. In this size, it would have been carried clandestinely for protection in town. It is made in two pieces with a relatively thin slashing blade, integral tang for scale grips and “hat” shaped iron pommel. Total length is 8 ½”. It is excellent for the period with much original surface to the blade. It comes with a Plexiglas display stand and certificate of authenticity.
