CUCHILLO CANARIO

$255.00

Canary Islands belt knife. Good old example of the form indigenous to the Canary Islands, adapted from the Spanish. See Armas Blancas en España, Rubio p.13. 19th century and probably brought to Puerto Rico with the mid-century mass immigration of Canary Islanders. 5 3/4" wedge section leaf shaped blade. Tapered grip of horn segments, with intricate wire inlay in various patterns, now slightly raised from shrinkage of the horn, attesting to its age. Undamaged with good uniform aging throughout.
