COLONIAL AMERICAN SKINNING KNIFE

$235.00

Forged iron 7 ½” length. Entirely forged from ingot and not bar stock. The blade flattened with a rudimentary scallop to decorate the top.  Whimsical features such as that are often encountered as smiths sought to add a little interest to otherwise boring tools, particularly in Pennsylvania. Used to remove the skin from a carcass and scrape the fat away leaving the hide for processing to leather. Rare.
