Classic form with large eared walrus ivory grips. See The Arms of Greece and her Balkan Neighbors in the Ottoman Period, Held, pl.006 for a near identical example belonging to Mahmud Dramali Pasha. The tang band with wire filigree and set with corals (one cracked) and mother of pearl. 23 1/2” blade with gilt bolster decorated with wire work and red “stones.” Heavy gold inscription panel to the right side of the blade and gold inlay panel to the left. Brass mounted black ass skin scabbard. An excellent quality and well preserved example of the yataghan in its iconic form.
