Silvered hilt and scabbard mounts. Black japanned grip with inlaid silver cross. 30” blade decorated over 2/3 its length with crusades scenes, Masonic symbols, foliage, owner’s name and death’s head (memento mori) on gold ground, complete and bright. The forte with THE M C LILLEY & CO COLUMBUS OHIO. That form of address used 1882-1925 only. Scabbard with a few small oxidation spots but the plating is otherwise bright and not flaking. The mounts with chipped enamel inlay. Quality and construction including the decoration consistent with its early manufacture. Fine early example in condition consistent with its age.
