Iconic type known as the Albertina pattern in honor of Charles Albert, King of Sardinia 1831-49. Brass hilt with “boat” shaped guard and large interior ring for the first two fingers. Silver wire wrapped grip. Heavy straight 33 ½” single edged blade with broad fuller toward the point. Blade shows staining and scattered pitting revealing its wrought iron pattern. Hilt with good medium patina. A rarely encountered and highly regarded pattern.
