MEDIEVAL MYSTICAL RING 5-8TH CENT AD

Gilt bronze, size 9 3/4 with rounded band, 1.6mm width. Oval bezel with deeply incised line border with regularly space punches, representing the Wheel of Fortune. The center with a complex geometric figure incorporating cabalistic ciphers. Clearly of mystical significance and probably the ring of a sorcerer. The form of the ring is Roman without the heavy bottom found on Roman rings. That is a natural progression of form as Europe descended into the Dark Ages and paganism evolved into many regional variations. Professionally conserved with the 24karat gold surface restored.
