1837 pattern, reign of Louis Philippe. Historic from the period of the Franco-Mexican War which was largely a naval war. 27 ¾” curved broad and narrow fullered blade, crisp and bright,  engraved Coulaux & Cie a Klingenthal on the back. The base struck with two proofs, crowned B and crowned G. Brass hilt intricately detailed and finely finished in naval themes including anchor, dolphin, sea shells, coiled rope, and grape foliage. Wire wrapped black horn grip Leather scabbard with matching mounts in fine condition for its age. Hilt and scabbard mounts with mellow dark patina as expected for service at sea.
