Rare untouched example with its working life haft intact. Form similar to the belt axes of the period which saw extensive service in the Revolution, but somewhat larger proportions. Blacksmith made.  7 ½” round poll head with forged steel bit. See Swords and Blades of the American Revolution, Neumann, #9.A.  Original haft, 28” length made from a tree limb with some bark remaining at the middle. Completely untouched New England attic or barn find brought to market in the 1950’s.  Great character
