PERSIAN PRIMING FLASK

$210.00
Early 19th century. Bronze, bag-shaped, 3 å?‰۝ total length. The body engraved in abstracted figures on hatched ground consistent with Islamic constraints. Double suspension rings to the sides. The bluster spout with an ingenious plunger system, undoubtedly influenced by European advances. A cylindrical internal reservoir contains a sleeve which, when the spout is pressed, causes holes both to align and allow the reservoir to fill with powder, now measured in volume. Releasing captures the powder which is dispensed through the spout. Well made and the only example of its type we have seen.
