18 ¼” diameter deeply domed iron with central face modeled in full relief. Fighting weight: 4lbs 7oz. The field with battle scenes involving mounted and foot warriors in various engagements. Some precious metal inlay, evidently 9karat gold which was popular in the East. Broad outer band with profuse calligraphic infill, probably prayers. Thick bronze edge band. Light wear and minor bruises from use. The decoration uniformly clear. From the collection of Sir Frank Bowden, Thame Park, Oxfordshire England.
