ROMAN LEAD SPINDLE WHORL, 1ST-3RD CENTURY AD

$65.00

Under 7/8” diameter (0.82”) formed as a truncated cone with a central hole for the wood spindle. Mounted with a wool rod and spun while the thread is drawn out with the other hand. In this size, it would be for making relatively fine thread. Exceptional preservation with soft gray patina but not white oxidized as usually encountered.
