MEDIEVAL EUROPEAN CHRISTIAN AMULET 5TH-8TH CENTURY AD

$180.00

Silvered bronze, circular, about ¾” diameter (0.73”) incised with a central four point star with radials between the points. The star is the early form of the Star of Bethlehem indicating Christianity but the radials are a carry over from the pagan Wheel of Fortune. Such mixed symbolism was wide spread among early Christians and carries on even today in the form of superstitions such as lucky numbers and good luck charms which are based in pagan beliefs. . Professionally refurbished with the silver surface restored on an 18” sterling silver neck chain for modern wear. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
