Wire wrapped ebony grip. 30 ¾” narrow back fullered blade marked ARTA FABA DE TOLEDO. In 1844, Spain's Civil Guard (Guardia Civil) was established by royal decree on May 13 as a national gendarmerie-style police force during the reign of Queen Isabella II. It was created to maintain public order, combat banditry, and police rural areas, frontiers, and highways, modeled after the French Gendarmerie.
